What are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling is one of the most effective ways to treat blemishes, address signs of aging, and improve the appearance and texture of the skin. Used on its own, microneedling is a great way to boost collagen production, but it can also be paired with topical treatments for even better results.

FAQ

What is microneedling? How does it work?

Microneedling is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure known for its ability to smooth and firm the skin. It activates the body’s ability to produce new, healthy collagen and tissue, leaving you with restored, glowing skin.

Does microneedling have any side effects?

The side effects of microneedling are minor and temporary. Some people experience temporary irritation, which usually comes in the form of swelling, redness, and a bit of skin flaking. This is normal and shouldn’t last more than a few days. This treatment is not suitable for patients with active acne or cold sores.

How many appointments do I need?

We usually recommend a series of three to five sessions for optimal results. During your consultation, you can tell us about your skincare goals, and we’ll recommend an appropriate treatment plan to achieve them.

Is microneedling painful?

Though it’s common to feel some irritation after the fact, the procedure itself should not be painful. We always apply a topical anesthetic to prevent uncomfortable sensations.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

You should pause the use of any products that increase your skin’s sensitivity, like retinoids or exfoliants. You should also plan to avoid sun exposure for a few days after your appointment.

How long does a microneedling procedure take?

Most sessions last one to two hours, depending on the area being treated.

What does recovery look like?

In the days following treatment, it is important to let the healing process run its course without too much disruption. Avoid sun exposure, heavy makeup, and activities that may cause excessive seating.  Aftercare will be reviewed at the time of your consultation and again on the day of your service.
