Laser hair removal is one of the most effective ways to remove unwanted hair from your body.  This highly-rated procedure provides permanent hair reduction for beautiful, smooth skin.

Your esthetician will use pulses of concentrated light to target individual hairs at the root. The type of laser used in this treatment only destroys cells with the highest amount of pigmentation, leaving skin and very fine hairs intact.

What are the Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal lasts longer than alternatives such as shaving, waxing, or tweezing. It’s also a quick, safe, non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime or side effects. Laser hair removal can also help to reduce ingrown hairs by targeting damaged hair follicles.

Who is the Best Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Anyone with unwanted hair can benefit from laser hair removal, though it is most effective for individuals with thick, dark hair and lighter skin. It may not work as well for those with darker skin or fairer hair. Patients with medical conditions that cause excess hair growth find it to be an effective treatment.

FAQ

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a specialized laser to remove unwanted hair from the face and body by targeting the hair follicle directly.

What is laser hair removal used to treat?

While laser hair removal is typically a cosmetic procedure, it can also be used to destroy ingrown hairs and remove excess hair caused by a variety of conditions including hirsutism and hormonal imbalances.

How many appointments do I need?

Most patients will need six to eight treatments, usually spaced six to eight weeks apart, to see long-lasting results. The timing of these treatments ensures each individual hair is removed by targeting them in different growth phases. Some people may require maintenance treatments once every six to twelve months to remove fine hairs that recur.

Is dermaplaning safe? Does it have any side effects

Laser hair removal is generally regarded as safe and effective. Some rare side effects include blisters, burns, hyperpigmentation (areas of skin that are darker than the surrounding skin), hypopigmentation (areas of skin that are lighter than the surrounding skin), and scarring.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Some patients with sensitive skin may experience discomfort during laser hair removal, so we offer a numbing gel to minimize any uncomfortable sensations.

How long does laser hair removal last?

It varies from patient to patient, though the majority see a 10% to 25% reduction in hair growth after the first treatment, and 20% to 75% reduction after one to six months of follow-up treatments.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

In the weeks leading up to your procedure, avoid tanning beds and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Avoid plucking or waxing for at least six weeks ahead of time. If you’re having hair removed from an area you typically shave, make sure to leave a little bit of stubble. This makes it easier for the laser to target those follicles.

How long does a laser hair removal take?

The length of the treatment varies based upon the treatment area. Larger areas such as the back can take up to an hour, while smaller areas may only take a few minutes.

What does recovery look like?

We will work directly with you to come up with a recovery plan that’s matched to your skin type and treatment area. Typically, we’ll advise you to protect your skin from the sun with sunscreen or sun-protective clothing. You might also choose to use ice packs, cold compresses, or topical steroid creams to reduce pain, swelling, and redness.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal cannot permanently remove all hair from the treated area — only the thickest, darkest hairs. Some hair may grow back, but it’s typically finer and lighter than before.
