Precision Exfoliation with Dermaplaning

Precision Exfoliation with Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a noninvasive method of exfoliation using a sterile surgical blade to remove dead skin cells and fine hair on the skin’s surface. By removing the top layer of the skin, dermaplaning can minimize fine wrinkles and deep acne scars, leaving the skin baby-smooth.

Dermaplaning is like shaving, only the blade targets the top layer of skin instead of the hair. The specialist removes dead skin, scar tissue, oils, and debris – clearing away older skin that’s been damaged over time through exposure to sun, chemicals, friction, and the general wear and tear our bodies experience each day, revealing fresh layers of new skin underneath.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is less invasive than many other exfoliation techniques and has a lower risk of side effects when performed by a licensed cosmetic specialist. Dermaplaning removes the top layer of skin, revealing smoother, healthier skin underneath.

FAQ

How does dermaplaning work?

During a dermaplaning treatment, a practitioner slowly moves a sterile blade across the skin, removing coarse, dead skin and revealing healthy smooth skin underneath.

What is dermaplaning used to treat?

Dermaplaning is commonly used to treat acne scars, fine lines, and skin unevenness.

How many appointments do I need?

Some patients get multiple treatments to achieve the desired result. However, the skin needs time to heal before the next round of treatment can begin. Please be sure to consult with us to ensure successful treatment and recovery.

Is dermaplaning painful?

During the procedure, you’re unlikely to feel pain, although some patients have reported a tingling sensation during treatment.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Before treatment, we’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your individual needs and your desired results. We recommend you avoid direct sun exposure in the week leading up to your appointment, as sun damage/sunburn can cause pain during treatment. In the event of an acne flare up, you may need to reschedule your appointment to avoid further irritation and damage to the skin.

How long does a dermaplaning procedure take?

The length of treatment will depend on the area treated. Usually, a full facial treatment takes about 30 to 90 minutes.

What does recovery look like?

Dermaplaning does not come with any downtime, but we recommend that you limit sun exposure, as sun damage can reverse the effects of the treatment. In the weeks following a dermaplaning treatment, be sure to wear sunscreen on the treated area when leaving the house.
